Staple food items needed on a regular bases are peanut butter, tuna, cereals, juice, crackers, rice, macaroni and cheese, coffee, tea, canned soups (no meat), canned fruits and vegetables, tomato sauce and personal goods, i.e., toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo. The pantry operates on monetary and non-perishable food donations. Food donations can be dropped off at various sites throughout the North Shore such as the JCC in Peabody and Marblehead, Family Service office in the Museum Place Mall, Salem and temples throughout the North Shore. Jewish Family Service's Kosher food pantry is offering an opportunity to sponsor a North Shore family for a monetary donation of $1200 for a year, $600 for 6 months or $100 a month. The monetary donation guarantees that a family will be properly supplemented with food for the given amount of time. "For as little as $90 a month, that is $3 a day you can feed a family of four", said Alyse Barbash, Program Director of the food pantry.
